2021 Arrowverse Roundup - Week 34

This week featured more trials, weird feelings, and flashbacks to the golden age.

Below is a breakdown of all of the Arrowverse stuff that aired this week. It is part review, part speculation, part analysis, and part rambling. It is organized in the order they aired throughout the week, so feel free to scroll down to whatever ones you watch. Stargirl - Episode 2.09 - Summer School: Chapter Nine

This episode was a lot of fun. To see a flashback heavy story featuring the JSA was overdue. But this was pivotal moment of the group - one that essentially divided them forever. John Wesley Shipp reprised his role as Jay Garrick on here, but his role was small one.

It would have fun to see Shipp's Garrick in present day with Stargirl and the rest of the kids, but I'm sure that will happen eventually. The problems that the team is facing is not at all as straightforward as it was last season. Things are deeper, more complex, and more sinister this time around.

The kids are all dealing with real life issues in addition to super power stuff, which makes things all the more compelling. It really is a great season so far, and things are only going to get more exciting it seems.

Supergirl - Episode 6.14 - Magical Thinking

The best part of Doctor Who is seeing the Doctor outsmart their opponents by using the villains own power against them. Supergirl took a page out of that book and did the same thing. Nxly got the next totem easy, but she became compassionate.

Compassion is what Kara does best, but she's never really battled it before. As Nxly was siphoning the compassion from humans, making them violent and aggressive, she had to figure out what to do. It was a creative way to go against the grain of the "formulaic" version of this story.

As things start to come to a close, it feels like they are giving a happy ending to Alex. It looks like she is going to adopt an adorable daughter (that happens to have powers) with Kelly. It kind of came out of nowhere, but at the same time, it felt right. Not everyone in the Arrowverse gets a happy ending. But Alex seems to be one of the ones that do.

Things are building up, and the objectives are clear. Now let's see if they can just stick the landing

The best episode of the week was Stargirl. Though both episodes were fantastic.
