A lot of "dealing with cancer" movies focuses solely on the person with cancer. What makes Paddleton  great is that it is also about how it can impact the people who love the person with cancer. Paddleton  stars Mark Duplass and Ray Romano as friends and neighbors. When Michael (Duplass) gets cancer, he decides to take a cocktail that will end his life. That premise provides much of the emotional depth that the film has. Paddleton  really shines during the "road trip" portion of the movie. There is humor to be found, but seeing how strong the relationship between two plutonic male friends is, provides a refreshing angle not often seen. The Shawshank Redemption and Trainspotting  are the only two that really come to mind. Whereas if you think of female-friend movies, there are dozens of them. This week, we had a series regular leave, a long time villain get more powerful, and a director who is used to timey wimey stories lay out another strong one. The Lego Movie was one of the most delightful surprises of 2014. A film that seemed like a giant commercial on the surface, turned out to be a sweet, funny, poignant masterpiece. The follow-up, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part doubles down on the premise of the first. It gives more of the same, which in this case is a positive.

Supergirl took the week off to watch the Super Bowl, but the other 3 shows gave us anniversaries, documentaries, heists, funerals, ambushes, and reunions.
