Just Supergirl  and Arrow  this week. Both had their merits, and demerits. Character performances were the highlights, with story coming in second. The Arrowverse is gearing up to end their seasons soon, and the stories are reflecting that. Earlier this month, Marvel brought Captain Marvel to the big screen . Now DC brings their Captain Marvel (rechristened "Shazam" by DC, and many other names by characters in this movie) to the big screen. It is a film that is heavy on the humor, has a lot of heart, but doesn't quite land emotionally.

Marvel's first standalone female superhero has finally arrived. Captain Marvel is a nostalgic 90's romp that is maybe too familiar for its own good. There is a lot to love in the movie, but not a lot of new, groundbreaking events to set it apart from the rest of the universe that has been building since 2008. There will be minor spoilers ahead.
