This review was originally published on RevengeOfTheFans.com Netflix’s newest film, Rim of the World is an adventure filled with emotion and excitement. The intrigue, heart, humor and spectacle of the characters are what makes this story tick. The film, written by Zack Stentz and directed by McG, has a Spielbergian sense of adventure, with a John Hughes coming-of-age feel. It’s a throwback to the 80s, with a modern sensibility.

Another Disney live action remake of one of their animated classics was released this month in the form of Aladdin . While I had my reservations about Guy Ritchie’s live action version, for the most part it was a perfectly entertaining crowd pleaser that did exactly what it was supposed to.

Both finales did exactly what they needed to. The Arrowverse is officially over for the summer now. While there were some struggles along the way, the endings were satisfying. There were some surprises, and actually some connective tissue between the two finales as one character appeared in both. There are a few movies each generation that reinvents the genre it is classified in. In 2014, John Wick  did that for the action genre. While John Wick: Chapter 2  expanded the mythology of the universe, it was a bit uneven when it came to the balance of storytelling and action. Luckily,  John Wick: Chapter 3   is perfectly balanced.

Video game movies do not have a great track record. So when Pokemon: Detective Pikachu was announced as a live action film, I had hesitations. But the movie provides a fun adventure that does some incredible world building for future installments of the franchise. There will be slight spoilers throughout.

This week had hallucinations of old friends, humans being superhuman, a trip to hell, and a real plan revealed.
