Stargirl - Episode 2.08 - Summer School: Chapter Eight

Solomon Grundy,
Born on a Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Grew worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
That was the end,
Of Solomon Grundy.

Though in Stargirl, Rick was almost the end of Grundy - or so we thought. It was really his uncle. The relationship between Grundy and Rick was the crux of the episode. It was really powerful stuff, and the episode unfolds in a way that tricks the audience. So it is all the more heartbreaking when the truth comes to light at the end.

Mike and Barbara had a sweet moment. We see the Courtney/Pat dynamic all the time. So seeing the other side of the coin was nice. They had a really pure moment between stepmother and stepson, and it was needed for their characters to feel 3 dimensional.

Beth had to go through her own journey too, and prove to herself that she is worthy of being Dr. Midnite. The audience knew she was of course, but the journey she had to o on to prove it to herself was worth taking.

Things keep chugging along, and are heading toward some very interesting places. Next week is gonna feature Stargirl's first Arrowverse cameo, so that will be fun to watch.

Supergirl - Episode 6.13 - The Gauntlet

Supergirl flashing back to the pilot episode was pretty cool, especially in the context in which it was used. Both Kara and Nxly and to face a trial, and the episode kind of went against the grain letting the villain be triumphant over the hero.

It is always cool when actors who have been in roles for while get to do something different. When the 5th dimensional energy bled into J'onn and Alex, they got to have fun with their roles which was entertaining to see.

Alex and Kelly's relationship is taking another step forward. It is nice to see Kelly become something more, and her Guardian suit looks amazing. But she is trying to figure out the balance that most heroes need to figure out: Balance between personal life and hero life. There isn't much time with these characters left, so Kelly's new journey is going to be abbreviated. But it looks like they are making it count.

The best episode of the week was Stargirl. Though both episodes were fantastic.
